What is a Salivette?
The Salivette® provides an optimal method for hygienic collection of saliva. Patients can very easily and independently collect the sample material for daily profiles at home without professional medical assistance.
How do you use a Salivette?
To use the Salivette: – Pour swab directly into the mouth by tipping the tube so the swab falls into the mouth. – Do NOT touch the swab with your fingers. – Keep the swab in your mouth for approximately one minute. – Roll the swab in your mouth.
How do you test for cortisol in saliva?
Do not eat, drink, or brush your teeth for 15-30 minutes before the test. Collect the sample between 11 p.m. and midnight, or as instructed by your provider. Put the swab into your mouth. Roll the swab in your mouth for about 2 minutes so it can get covered in saliva.
How do you use a salivary cortisol kit?

- Relax for approximately 1 hour before collection of saliva.
- Do not eat anything for 30 minutes prior to specimen collection.
- Remove any lipstick.
- No brushing or flossing teeth for 30 minutes prior to collection.

Should I refrigerate my saliva sample?
Do I need to refrigerate the saliva samples? Yes. Please refrigerate the samples as soon as you possibly can (at least by the end of the day on which you collect them).
Do you refrigerate salivary cortisol?

Spit into the open funnel until the amount of saliva (not bubbles) reaches the fill line. Most people take 2 to 5 minutes to fill the tube. Close the lid tightly by pushing down hard on the funnel lid until you hear a loud click. The liquid will flow down into the tube.
Is the salivette suitable for hygienic collection?

As the swab is a small part that can be swallowed, it is not recommended for use in children under three years.
