Can Viton be molded?
Either injection molding or compression molding can be used when manufacturing viton rubber. When injection molding is used, the heated rubber is pumped through a machine barrel and comes out a nozzle where it is then injected into a mold.
What is Viton used for?
A Viton™ seal is simply a seal manufactured from Viton™. These seals or gaskets are commonly used to seal leaks, valves, pumps and similar. Viton™ o rings are the most common type of seal, which we provide here at NES in a variety of sizes and profiles.
What is the difference between Viton and Viton A?
Although Viton® A has higher thermal stability than Viton® B, it is typically used in applications where high surface pressures or low temperatures are present.
Is Viton plastic or rubber?
Viton is a synthetic, floronated hydrocarbon (fluorocarbon) rubber product produced and trademarked by DuPont Performance Elastomers (Viton refers to all types of DuPont fluoro-rubbers).
Can you injection mold FKM?
EXSTO Italia disposes of a wide selection of FKM ( Viton ) compounds, which can be used for compression and injection moulding, to manufacture extremely different components.
What is Viton type A?
The Viton™ A-type family of fluoroelastomers are dipolymers comprised of hexafluoropropylene (HFP) and vinylidene fluoride (VF₂). They are used in a wide range of extrusion, injection molding, and solution coating applications, and some grades act as effective curing chemicals and metal adhesion promoters.
How strong is Viton?
High temperatures: Viton O-rings withstand temperatures from -20°C to 210°C (-4°F to 410°F). Chemicals: Viton can withstand a wide range of chemicals: these include oils, acids, silicone fluids, and gasses, as well as halogenated and aromatic hydrocarbons.
What is another name for Viton?
Viton® is a brand name of DuPont for its synthetic rubber and fluoropolymer elastomer, commonly used in O-rings and other moulded or extruded products.
What is the difference between Viton A and B?
Viton® B has better resistance and retains flexibility better after dry heat aging than Viton® A. It is recommended with good mechanical properties. Viton® B is specified by the Fluid Sealing Association to resist sulfur dioxide in power generating factory systems.
Is Viton the same as PTFE?
Viton vs Teflon (PTFE) – Viton offers a greater temperature resistance but falls short of Teflons(PTFE) chemical resistance. Also, Teflon is slightly less thermally resistant but offers much more in the way of non-adhesive properties.
What is Viton made out of?
fluoropolymer elastomer
Viton® is a brand name of DuPont for its synthetic rubber and fluoropolymer elastomer, commonly used in O-rings and other moulded or extruded products.
Can EPDM rubber be injection molded?
But is it possible to injection mold EPDM rubber? The short answer is yes. It is not only possible to injection mold EPDM, the compound works well with compression and transfer molding processes as well.
