Does Tobermory have yurts?
A yurt is a large, round tent. Traditionally, yurts are a common dwelling in Mongolia. However, the yurts located on Cyprus Lake campground in Tobermory are for recreational camping. Inside the yurts in Tobermory, there is furniture, such as a bed, some chairs and a fireplace to keep the yurt warm at night.

Can I camp anywhere in Tobermory?
Permits must be picked up from the Park Visitor Centre in Tobermory. While some campers travel to the island using their own boats, a private tour boat from Tobermory can also be taken to reach the campsites. Although leashed pets are allowed on the sites, campfires are banned.
Is BBQ allowed in Tobermory?
BBQ’s – Charcoal barbeques are permitted. Please dump cold ashes into a fire pit. Backcountry camping – No open fires are allowed.

The interior of the island has some really good hiking trails that are worthwhile doing. The main attraction is the croppy outgrowth of rock that is the “Flowerpot”. The walk to there is well worth it.
