What does 3183Y mean?
3183Y is a 3 core cable with 1 brown, 1 blue and 1 green & yellow cores. 3184Y is a 4 core cable with 1 brown, 1 blue, 1 grey and 1 green & yellow cores. Voltage rating: 300/500V. Temperature rating: 0 to + 60 degrees C.
What does 500V mean?
What does the data 300V/500V or 600V/1000V mean? These specifications describe the permissible nominal voltage of a cable, specified in volts. The first value is the maximum permissible effective value between conductor and protective conductor.

Can aluminum carry a current?
Aluminum. Aluminum is yet another metal known for its high conductivity of electricity. Though by volume its conductivity is only 60% of copper, by weight, one pound of aluminum has the electrical current-carrying capacity of two pounds of copper.

What is the difference between 2183Y and 3183Y?
2183Y is a 3 Core circular 200-300V (Light Duty) flex where as 3183Y is a 3 Core Circular flex rated at 300/500v.
What is the difference between 2182Y and 3182Y?
The two Cores are Colour Coded as a Live (Brown) and Neutral (Blue). The 3182Y has a thicker insulation than the 2182Y thus giving it a higher Voltage capacity. All our cable are BASEC approved, providing piece of mind.
What is the meaning of 600 1000V?
Assuming I have interpreted your question correctly you need to understand what the two voltages mean, 600/1000 means the cable has a rating of 600 volt core to earth (so between any core and SWA if the cable is armoured) and 1000 volts between cores.
What does 300V mean?
If the applied voltage is AC, the rating is 300V rms. If the applied voltage is DC, the rating is 300V. If you look a few lines further down, you will see ‘withstand voltage 1500VAC (that is, 2120 peak) for 1 minute’.

What is triplex wire used for?
Triplex wire is commonly used for overhead, single phase service and contains three individual wires twisted around each other. The two insulated conductors are called the “hot” legs of the service while the bare (uninsulated) wire is the neutral wire of the service.
