Wits tabulates the points score for all subjects on the following basis:
- That English must be taken either as Home Language or as 1st Additional Language.
- Mathematics is compulsory for all numerate programmes in Engineering and the Built Environment, Commerce, Law and Management, and Science.

A full year course typically extends over a year (two semesters) – and points are allocated to each course and you will only accrue those points when you pass the course. A minimum of 456 points is required to be awarded the degree. Students are advised to enrol for a maximum of two (2) courses per year.

What does NSFAS cover at wits?
The amount is meant to cover the students’ tuition fees first and then the student may use the balance for any other study costs.
